NEXEDGE plus Wi-Fi

Datalink has developed a WiFi link which will allow two-way text messages and

Emails to be sent/received by an Ipod Touch or Ipad linked to Kenwood NX-

700/800 mobiles and NX-200/300 portables. A Wi-Fi module is installed inside

the NX_700/800 radios or an external dongle attached to the mic’ connector on

the portables.

An SMA connector on the rear of the mobile radios allows for a remote Wi-Fi

2.4Mhz antenna to be mounted on the external vehicle surfaces for longer

range.

Email TCP data packets are converted to plain binary text by the DataGate

program to reduce the over the air data traffic.

GPS location using the Ipod internal GPS receiver is transmitted with each

message and also on a programmed timed report basis.
